 THE SOPRANOS

Last night's episode of THE SOPRANOS caught me by surprise.
It had a scene with Tony Soprano's son AJ working at a Blockbuster. The scene begins with a closeup of the first knife fight that I worked on for THE HUNTED.

AJ and his co-worker are arguing about various knife grips, and what their preferred range to be in during a knife fight. AJ does a crazy disarm off his thigh. The fight scene continued to play in the background. The drawing below depicts the exact shot they opened this scene with.

This was a great setup for what happens with AJ as he tries to sneak a Kabar knife into a place. I won't go into details for those who want to catch the reruns this week.

Quite surreal to watch something I helped choreograph featured so prominently on a show I've enjoyed for many years!

 TARS

This was a VERY early rough concept drawing for the JOHN CARTER of MARS film back in 2001. It's been seen online for a few years now, but I wanted to post it here since there was some confusion on several websites who to attribute the original art to.

My designs have evolved since then, now that I've had time to contemplate on it some. However, it still retains the alien aspects of the creature because I feel that the Tharks were not humans, and that stark contrast was essential to the themes of isolation and tribalism in the books. They were lean mean four armed machines!

The John Carter books were a great mesh of old school Science Fantasy, adventure, romance and barbarism. Each element crucial to conveying what makes these books classics.

There will be an article on me on another website soon, which I will post a link to once goes live.
