The 25th Anniversary Heroes Con show was a great time. Caught up with many old friends and heard about all their exciting projects. Much thanks to all the art collectors who nearly emptied out all three portfolios of original art that I brought to the con, and kept me busy sketching commissions.
Heroes is an art lover's convention, I've never been to a convention where fans are there to buy art and lots of it. Shelton Drum who runs Heroes had a great staff, the convention was smoothly run. Lots of aisle space, friendly staff, awesome guests.
Also had a chance to say hello to comics legend Dick Giordano and Pat Bastienne. Dick was the man in charge of DC Comics and hired me straight out of art school over 24 years ago. Dick and Pat were mentors to me when I first entered the industry. Pat had infinite patience and she would answer all my newbie questions on the office side of things.
Dick Giordano's still keeping busy even in "retirement". I recommend purchasing a copy of his
how to book if you want to get a great lesson on how the comic art masters did it. I wish I had this book when I was a kid! Dick is one of the greatest inkers in comics, his classic run inking over Neal Adam's pencils on Batman is still a highlight of that book.
